Blues Mandolin: Lick over the IV chord

This is a lesson from several years back demonstrating a common lick played over the IV chord.  This is heard in the playing of SRV, Jimmie Vaughan, Freddie King, and others.

The lick is typically played over the IV chord in a tune with a heavy shuffle.  So for example, if in the Key of G, it would be played over the C chord, in E it would be over the A chord, etc.  It really is an arpeggiated 9th chord with a diminished walk from the 9th to the root of the chord.  It’s an easy lick to do if you don’t think about the individual notes but more the shape of all the notes mapped out.
