Mandolin Blues Lick of the Day #10 – 7.18.23

\

Today’s blues mandolin instruction:  Howling Wolf!   This website provides mandolin blues instruction by Jim Richter, acknowledged expert in blues & rock mandolin. Tablature available at PatreonOne of the most incredible of all blues licks–the Killing Floor lick.   First heard–and correct me if I’m wrong–in Howlin’ Wolf’s Killing Floor.  Later it was popularized in Hendrix’s own version of Killing Floor and a little later by Zeppelin in The Lemon Song on Zeppelin II.

Again, as this is a closed position riff, it can be be played in any key.  This is all about groove and grit–so get greasy with it!
