Description
For sale is my 1951 Martin D-18 Dreadnaught Guitar with original hardshell case. It is a cannon. This is a player’s grade guitar, but that isn’t because anything drastic has been done to it. It is structurally sound with few repairs, but cosmetically is a little rough, especially on the oversprayed top.
Neck has been reset and action set to Martin specs by previous owner (who was vintage Martin collector/dealer). Finish at neck body joint touched up. Plastic strap button added at some time. Top and bridge have been oversprayed at some time. Schaller tuners had been installed at some time. I removed and reinstalled vintage Martin 40s tuners with ivorioid buttons. Bridge is original Brazilian Rosewood and probably shaved and reglued at some point. New bone bridge saddle. Original bone nut. Original maple bridge plate. Pickguard is original and in good shape. Finish on the back, sides and neck is original. Belt buckle rash. Neck is straight and fret have been just leveled and crowned. Side crack repaired. Small crack on back that is not all the way through was stabilized Original saddle should be in original case.
This is an incredible guitar for the bluegrasser who doesn’t want to pay $9k to $10k for a pristine example.
