Description

For sale is my 1956 Gibson EM-200 Solidbody Electric Florentine Mandolin. The Centralab pot codes date to 1955 (134522) and includes the original Cornell-Dubilier Grey Tiger tone capacitor.  Like many from the 1956 to 57 period, there is not a serial number and is dated through pot codes. Original nitro lacquer shows finish checking, as well as a few points of wear, chips in the finish. Majority of the instrument looks very clean regardless of these noted wear points.  There is no structural damage that needs repaired or impacts playing ability.

A portion of the smaller, bass side headstock scroll that has broken off.  This obviously does not impact the instrument other than cosmetically and could be easily restored.  There is some fretwear on the top 3 frets, but still plays great with no noticeable issues. The intonation, action and overall playability are excellent. No buzzes or dead spots.  The instrument is all-original, including the pots, caps, backplate, bridge, tailpiece, pickup, knobs, pickguard and tuning machines. All electronics work perfectly, with no noise or scratchiness.  The P90 pickup is original.

Unlike many vintage EM-200’s, this has the original Lifton hardshell case and it is in EXCELLENT condition with some case candy.

Shipping is included to the continental US in purchase price
